Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar stormed off the set of "The View" today when during a heated debate about the proposed Muslim cultural center near Ground Zero, Bill O'Reilly said, "Muslims killed us on 9/11."
Joy and the Whoopster took exception to O'Reilly saying "Muslims" instead of saying "extremist Muslims" or "terrorists." Joy was the first to get up saying she didn't want to be on the set anymore. Whoopi joined her and the two walked out.
Barbara Walters was pissed! She told the audience what they had just seen was something that should never happen and then continued the conversation with O'Reilly.
Joy and Whoopi returned to the set only after O'Reilly apologized and clarified that he wasn't referring to all Muslims when he made his comments.
I can't stand Bill O'Reilly and his sanctimonious pronouncements, so anytime someone stands up to him, I'm happy. Should Whoopi and Joy have walked off? Probably not, but hey, it was great television.
This wasn't nearly as good as The Great Rosie/Elisabeth Throwdown, but it was up there.
Take a look at what happened and you decide.
