It’s not just a sweet, sweet fantasy: They belong together. Yes indeed, after several days of intense speculation, Fox announced at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills Monday that Mariah Carey has officially signed on as an American Idol judge for the show’s upcoming 12th season.

This is a great choice for "Idol" to infuse some new judging blood into what has become stale television. And as long as she gets away from the "you look beautiful tonight" kind of comments, she'll already be ahead of the game.
Now if they would just add Adam Lambert to the judging panel, I would be a true happy "Idol" camper!
