The Academy is going with a couple of Hollywood young guns when it comes to hosting duties for the 2011 Aademy Awards. It was announced today that Anne Hathaway ("Love and Other Drugs," "The Devil Wears Prada") and James Franco ("127 Hours," "Milk") will co-host the Oscars come February.
“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons -- fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscars broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27,” said producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer. “We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”
I love Anne Hathaway. She's a very good actress and I think she'll look absolutely brillant. But whether she and Franco can be entertaining for four plus hours on a live show remains to be seen.
Having said that, good on the Academy for trying to change things up.
The Academy Awards air February 27, 2011 on ABC.
