Cool Video Websites that Aren't YouTube or Hulu

When you think of online video, you think of YouTube and Hulu. But those aren't the only two choices when it comes to online video. There are a bunch of niche video websites that showcase professional and home made videos by genre. You may find that many of these videos are also on YouTube, but the difference is that some of these websites have their own communities and how-to guides for creating just the type of video you want.

First up, for some of the most viral comedy videos, check out Funny or Die. There you'll find stars like Will Ferrell, Heidi Montag and Jewel in a variety of spoofs and yarns. For example, Forehead Tittaes is a video that stars Oscar winner Marion Cotillard demonstrating an unusual new product designed to get women more respect in the office.

Ever heard of Brick Films? That's a site that's dedicated to "brickfilming -- making stop motion animation with LEGO or other brick like elements."  Here's Road Rescue.

Then there's WebCam Stop Motion, where you turn on your computer's webcam and make your own personal stop motion animation videos, starring you.

Or go back to school with TeacherTube. They've got videos broken down by age group or subject and you can watch videos of teachers, students and school performances.

If TV-like scripted episodes are more your thing, check out  I "Heart" Vampires at Take180.com. It's a web-series described as "What happens when 2 fangirls, a vampire and a vampire hunter cross paths." They're in their 2nd season, and they want you to "get sucked in."

Veoh, like Hulu is a sleek looking site, but has a lot more user content. For example, Skydiver Girls.

At VideoSift you can vote videos up or down in popularity. Then there's MegaVideo, with a large selection of clips and videos from around the world, and Dailymotion has channel after channel of videos on more topics than you could imagine.

When it comes to kids, MakeUseOf.com has a post, 10 Video Websites for Kids that are Safe and Fun. For example there's Kideo Player:

Kideo Player is YouTube website for kids. It is also probably has the most kid friendly way to view videos. It’s similar to a playlist of selected videos which the kids can go through with a press of the spacebar. The most popular ones are those which have the least spacebar skips. You can press ‘F’ for full screen view of the videos. The idea is to keep things super simple for the youngest among your kids.

Finally the blog Amazing Videos has a whole array of posts about videos and posts including videos.

Happy watching!
