The "Royal Pains" of the Hamptons
Did you know there were such things as concierge doctors?
Medical professionals who hang out at ritzy resorts waiting for party-goers to overdose, or slip on the dance floor or crack-up their cars? That's when a discreet doctor is literally worth his weight in gold.
Mark Feuerstein is Hank Lawson in the new USA Cable show "Royal Pains." When Doc Hank gets bounced from his NYC hospital because he leaves the bedside of a very rich hospital benefactor to save the life of a teen who collapsed on the basketball court he's bounced and blacklisted quicker than you can say, "malpractice suit."
Doc Hank and his brother Evan end up in the Hamptons and before you know it, Doc Hank is saving lives left and right, and the rich and famous take notice. Especially since he treats them in their own homes and away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.
Is the show worth your time? Based on the pilot, no. While Feuerstein is easy on the eyes, he's not the most compelling actor. Having said that, this isn't "Hamlet" either. Seeing all the fancy houses is fun, but that only goes so far.
"Royal Pains" premieres tonight on USA Cable at 10/9C.
