A Day Of Service In Honor Of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 19th, 2009 is the official celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.  It's also an official day of service which Barack and Michelle Obama are promoting as a great way to get involved with community service the day before Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States.

To that end they've launched the website USA Service.  On the site you can link up with others who are participating in events around the country.

Over at BlogHer, Contributing Editor Britt Bravo has written a great post on five different things you can do to get involved.

One of Britt's links is to the following YouTube video featuring Michelle Obama describing what USA Service is all about:

So if you can, use today to either contribute in your community or think about ways to make a contribution in the future.
