"Idol" Chit Chat: What Chikezie and Monica Seles Have In Common

American_idol_logoThis is a reality TV combo post.  Over the last two days, there were big eliminations on "American Idol" and "Dancing With The Stars," and I'm barely able to keep up with all of them, but I'll try.

First "Dancing With The Stars."  As I said last week, I'm really jazzed about the women on this year's "DWTS," and as a huge tennis fan I was rooting for Monica Seles.  But of course she was the first woman to go.  I can't argue with that decision too much, 'cause as much as I love her, the poor girl couldn't cut it.  Maybe if she had danced with a tennis racquet in her hand, she could have brought some of rhythm she has on the court to the dance floor.

As far as the men, Penn Gillette was made to disappear.  He was great for laughs and very entertaining, but the man was like an anvil  in shoes clomping around the floor.   But that's okay, he's got Teller to go home to.

On "American Idol" my man Chikezie got bounced.  That was the heartbreaker 'cause I really expected Brooke or at least Ramiele to go instead.  And though I didn't expect him to go this early, he just got lost in some bad song choices.

However he gave us flashes of brilliance that I hope will get him far.  I still think his "She's A Woman" performance was the most entertaining number of all the top twenty-four performers. His problem is the same problem Brooke, Jason, Ramiele, and Syesha still face:  being too predictable and consequently boring.  Not that they're not talented singers, because they are, but they better start shaking up the stage, or they'll be the next ones to go.

That is unless Kristy Lee Cook stops being so patriotic.
