Idol Chit Chat: I'm A Fair Weather Viewer
Last week brought the return of "American Idol." And as most of you know I'd fully intended to recap the show from the very beginning. Crappy audition phase and all. But ten minutes of listening to those nut jobs screeching to the rafters and sporting crazy costumes changed my mind.
As I said in my first "American Idol" post last year, when I started recapping the final twelve:
I'm a fair weather "AI" fan. I never sit through all those early rounds with the screeching and cursing, the whining and crying...the geeks, freaks and wackos---and that's just Ryan and Simon."
Somehow I'm certain listening to those audition shows for more than ten minutes at a time actually destroys brain cells, and I can't afford to lose any I have left. So I'm not gonna do it. I can't do it. I won't do it.
Instead, I'll start recapping as soon as the contestants get to Hollywood. I won't wait until the final twelve, though God knows I'd like to, but I'll become a loyal viewer, right around the time they have people up on the stage who know what a melody is.
